Seeb is the second-largest city in Oman, with about 238,000 people. Salalah, the capital of Dhofar, has about 163,140 people. Four other cities have populations of over 100,000: Bawshar, Sohar, As Suwayq, and `Ibri. Together, these seven cities have over 1.67 million people, almost one-third of Oman’s total population. Another eight cities have populations of over 50,000.

About 85.44% of Oman’s population lives in cities or urban areas. This is a growth of over 10% from 2009, when the urban population was 74.62%. The urbanization rate is relatively high in Oman at 5.25% annually.
