SWR Spectre 2 - .22lr Silencer
The Durable Suppressor
With its construction of ultra high performance and tough Stainless Steel, the Spectre II allows weapon fire to go virtually unnoticed. It is not only super tough, but also one of the quietest 22 suppressor known to man. With the Spectre II, users will also enjoy its multi-caliber versatility. Click Together Assembly (CTA) Baffle Stack
The Spectre II has a unique CTA baffle design for easy disassembly and is user serviceable, which is very important for any .22 lr silencer. Because the .22 lr round is not copper jacketed, molten lead and carbon debris will explode into the silencer when the projectile exits the muzzle. After some time it is possible for a .22 suppressor to fill completely with lead and become heavy and ineffective. To avoid this issue .22 silencers must be able to be disassembled for cleaning and regularly maintained. Most .22 silencers on the market can be disassembled for cleaning, however they require cleaning every 50 to 200 rounds or often times they will fuse together and they are unable to come apart. When the lead and carbon debris adhere to the inner wall of the silencer tube and fill the spaces between the baffles and the tube, there is simply too much build up of fouling and lead to remove the tube from most .22 lr silencers on the market. The Spectre II has the unique CTA baffle design that keeps the carbon and lead debris from reaching the silencer tube allowing it to be disassembled easily.

SilencerCo Spectre 22
Before the versatile Spectre 22 hit the market, rimfire suppressor aficionados had to decide between an easy-to-clean monocore can and a very quiet K-baffle design. Thankfully, SilencerCo brought the best of both worlds together in the Spectre 22 by pioneering their Click-Together Assembly (CTA) baffle system. This breakthrough provides nearly the same effectiveness as a true K-baffle, combined with the simple maintenance of a monocore unit. As a result, this silencer was an immediate success!
Settled in Utah, SilencerCo strives (and succeeds) to bring top-notch suppressors and accessories to the public. With advancements like the Spectre 22, their reputation will remain in good graces industry-wide.
As mentioned, the Spectre 22 has a unique CTA baffle design that is user-serviceable and easy to disassemble, which are high priorities for .22LR silencers. To avoid buildup, it employs the CTA system that keeps carbon and lead debris from reaching the suppressor tube, allowing the unit to be taken apart quickly. This setup also helps minimize the dreaded first round pop. Moreover, the use of sturdy stainless steel gives this 6.8-ounce can added durability, so a full day at the gun range is encouraged. The Spectre 22 has been an incredibly influential silencer. Therefore, most of today’s modern rimfire designs have utilized its best features to produce new and improved cans. Thank you, SiCo.

SilencerCo Spectre II Suppressor
The .22 LR caliber firearms aren’t very loud to begin with—add a suppressor to that and you’ve got a very quiet shooter that is perfect for plinking or hunting small game. SilencerCo has yet again produced a quality AND affordable suppressor with the Spectre II. With an MSRP of around $400, what’s not to love?
The Spectre features stainless steel construction and a very robust container with a 1/2×28 thread pitch and a tail cap that resembles an RPG fin. This end and tail cap easily unscrew to allow cleaning and routine maintenance; the non-mono-core baffles can then be removed and also replaced if necessary—a very user-friendly design indeed. The baffles press together like they were hand fitted to each other and their smooth finish makes for an easy wipe down after a long day of shooting. Of course, SilencerCo’s warranty system is in full effect: the removable components, baffle strikes and possible unfortunate mishaps are no longer a major concern as the end-user can simply replace the damaged part with ease.
Advertised as being capable of performing at 113 decibels, the suppressor leaves your hearing intact after a pleasant snap rather than an irritating crack; at least that’s the best I can describe the experience. I didn’t feel a significant difference in recoil personally and, not that there was much to begin with, I seriously doubt it altered the rifle’s performance much. I would also like to say that zero malfunctions were experienced throughout the day, so reliability is another pro “box” that can be checked for this one. All in all, the SilencerCo SpectreII suppressor is a fun and affordable way to get into suppressors without breaking the bank.
